Welcome
Welcome to Coulter & Coulter. We produce a range of homewares hand printed here in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand.
Block printing is a method of transferring ink to the fabric using carved wooden blocks. The pressure of the block combined with 100% natural cotton and wool result in the ink being pressed deep into the fibres to give a bright, long lasting print.
Being a hand process, each piece is slightly different and unique.
You can find our products in person at The Department of Curiosities and Fine Things, 14 Hastings Street, Napier or online at Felt.

About us
Inspiration,
energy, drive and printing by me. Artistic ability and sliced fingers
by him. After years of working on separate crafty projects, we have
found the perfect way to combine our talents. My love of textiles, years
of patchwork and design. His artistic talent and enjoyment of playing
about with wooden blocks and sharp implements. In other words I tell him
what to do and he does it, sometimes (which really means hardly ever,
but its worth the wait).
Nicola and Peter Coulter are a husband and wife team living here in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. Along with Coulter & Coulter we are also reclectica - a range of one off furniture pieces and Nicola's hands are also behind the mask of fledgling knitwear brand Incogknito ( but you didn't hear that from me).
We aim to tread lightly on this planet and our work has an emphasis on the hand made and recycling.
